Flood cleanup in Orem is usually not a river coming over its banks. It is a summer thunderstorm dumping on a hillside, a window well filling like a bucket or a secondary irrigation line breaking and running water toward the foundation for hours. The result looks the same in a basement: an inch or more of water on the floor, and carpet and drywall wicking it up.
Outside water is treated as Category 3 once it has run across soil and landscaping. That changes the cleanup. Wet carpet pad is removed and thrown out. Drywall is flood cut, usually 2 feet or 4 feet up depending on how high the water wicked, so the wall cavity can be cleaned and dried. The insulation behind it comes out. Every surface the water touched gets cleaned and treated with an antimicrobial before drying starts.
Our crew handles the whole sequence: water extraction, tear-out, cleaning, structural drying and odor control. We photograph the damage and take moisture readings for your adjuster.
Window wells deserve their own mention. Many Orem and Provo basements have egress windows with gravel-bottom wells that drain poorly. A clogged well with no cover fills in a storm and the water pushes past the window frame. After we dry the room, we will show you what let the water in so you can fix it before the next storm.
