Carpet cleaning is where the Ward Brothers name started in Utah County, and it is still part of what our crew does in Orem homes. The difference now is that we look at carpet the way a water damage crew does. What is under it matters as much as what is on it.
We clean with hot water extraction. A pre-spray loosens soil and oils, then a heated rinse goes into the fibers and gets pulled back out under strong vacuum. Utah County water is hard, so we use a rinse that does not leave soap behind. Residue is why some carpets look dirty again a few weeks after a cheap cleaning: sticky soap grabs soil. We finish with extra dry passes so the carpet is not left soaked.
Dry times here are short. With Orem's low humidity, most carpet is dry enough to walk on in a few hours, faster with the furnace fan or an air mover running. That short dry time is also why a carpet that stays damp for days is a warning sign. It usually means water under the pad, and that is a job for water extraction, not a carpet cleaner.
Basement carpet gets extra attention. If a spot keeps coming back, smells musty or feels cool and damp, we check it with a moisture meter before cleaning. Some of the leaks we find start as a carpet cleaning call. Student rentals near UVU and BYU turning over at the end of a semester are a regular part of the schedule.
