Attic mold removal in Orem usually starts with a bathroom fan. Plenty of homes have exhaust fans that dump moist air straight into the attic instead of out through the roof. Every hot shower in January sends warm, wet air onto roof sheathing that is sitting well below freezing. It frosts, then melts and soaks the plywood or OSB. By spring the underside of the roof deck is gray or black.
Ice dams do the same thing from the other side. Snow melts over a warm attic, refreezes at the cold eave and backs water under the shingles. Then there is blocked soffit venting, where blown insulation has buried the baffles and the attic cannot breathe.
Our crew checks the sheathing with a moisture meter and looks at ventilation before we quote anything. Treatment on sound sheathing is usually HEPA vacuuming, a wire brush or soda blast of the stained areas, an antimicrobial and a white or clear encapsulant. Soft or delaminated OSB gets replaced. Wet insulation comes out. We also reroute the fan duct to a roof or gable vent so the problem does not start over next winter.
Attic mold rarely drifts into the living space on its own, but it can show up as a musty smell in upstairs closets or dark rings around ceiling light fixtures. If the stain is on the ceiling below the attic, our ceiling and drywall water damage service covers the repair. Want proof first? Book mold testing and inspection. Call (385) 853-1062.
